Three Kuchan School fencers compete at state championship in Amravati

Three players from Kuchan School in Solapur are competing in the 34th Junior State Fencing Championship 2026 in Amravati, marking the school's entry onto the state-level stage.

Akshay Kumar Pitta, Shweta Vidap and Gandham Tulsi are taking part in the prestigious event, held at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College in Amravati from September 11 to 13, 2026. Young fencers from various districts of Maharashtra are participating, giving the Kuchan School players a chance to test their skills against the state's other talented athletes.

Akshay Kumar Pitta competed in the epee category, while Shweta Vidap and Gandham Tulsi took part in the foil category. Fencing requires quickly reading an opponent's moves, attacking fast and defending just as swiftly, which is why constant practice, physical fitness, focus and mental preparation play a big role in the sport.

The three players reached the state-level competition through regular practice and hard work, and competed with full confidence in a sport that tests speed, agility, precision and decision-making.

Guidance from Pawan Bhosale and Dr. Priya Nitin Mahindrakar played an important role in bringing the players to this stage. Under their supervision, the players regularly practised different fencing techniques, with special training in attack, defence, speed of movement and the discipline required for competition.

Participation in such state-level events gives students a chance to prove their talent on the sports field alongside their studies. Three children from Kuchan School reaching the state level in a skill-based sport like fencing has been seen as a new direction for the school's sports programme, and their participation is also boosting enthusiasm for sport among other students.
