Kothrud woman dies by suicide, husband booked over alleged affair
A woman in Kothrud died by suicide allegedly over her husband's affair, and a 13-year-old schoolgirl died by suicide in Nashik district.
A married woman died by suicide at her home in Pune's Kothrud area, allegedly unable to bear her husband's extramarital affair. A case has been registered against the husband at Kothrud police station.
The incident took place around 10:30 am on August 22 on Sutardara Lane No. 29 in Kothrud. The woman has been identified as Monali Govind Pawar, 25, a resident of Sutardara, Kothrud. Police have registered a case against her husband, Govind Pawar, in connection with the incident.
According to police, Monali and Govind had married only a few months earlier, but Govind was allegedly having an affair with another woman. The couple frequently quarrelled over this, and Govind allegedly abused and beat Monali during these fights. Unable to bear the harassment, Monali died by suicide at her home on August 22. Police have registered a case against the husband, holding him responsible for her death. The case is being investigated by Assistant Police Inspector Dr Ashok Dongre.
In a separate incident, a 13-year-old schoolgirl died by suicide in Trimbakeshwar taluka of Nashik district. The girl, a resident of Kathavadpada (post Devdongra), has been identified as Lavanya Lahudas Bhondve. The incident caused grief in the Harsul and Boripada areas.
Lavanya was studying in the eighth grade at a government tribal ashram school in Boripada, where test examinations were underway. Most students at the ashram school stay on campus, but Lavanya commuted daily from home as it was close by. On Thursday evening, September 3, around 7:30 pm, after returning home from school, she died by suicide at her home in Kathavadpada. When family members discovered this, they raised an alarm and rushed her to the primary health centre in Harsul for treatment, but doctors declared her dead on examination.
