For those who do not want the hassle of charging, need easy access to fuel on long trips and want to ride the conventional way, petrol scooters remain a decent option today. The new Ather Konark S 100 is priced at Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom) in Bengaluru. Here is a look at which petrol scooters are available around the same price.
The Honda Activa starts at Rs 76,083 and goes up to Rs 91,082 for the top variant. It has a 110cc engine, strong brand trust and a mileage of 54.4kmpl. The top variant gets a 4-inch TFT screen, smartphone connectivity and a smart key. Spending about Rs 9,000 more for the Konark gets buyers a 100km IDC range, a top speed of 70kph, two ride modes and 31 litres of storage.
The Honda Activa 125 is priced from Rs 91,178 to Rs 95,622. It has a 124cc engine, delivering 8.3hp power and 10.5Nm torque compared to the 110cc model. Even so, the Konark has an edge in terms of features.
The TVS Jupiter 110 starts at Rs 74,125. It has a 113.3cc engine producing 7.9hp power and 9.8Nm torque. A 33-litre under-seat storage, front fuel tank, smartphone connectivity and 12-inch wheels make it a good option for families. With a mileage of 57kmpl, it can offer a range of about 285km.
The TVS Jupiter 125 is priced between Rs 81,700 and Rs 89,935. It has a 124.8cc engine and a TFT display, along with a larger engine capacity. Paying about Rs 10,000 more than the Konark gets buyers a bigger front wheel.
The Suzuki Access 125 starts at Rs 82,185, with the top TFT-ABS variant priced up to Rs 1.02 lakh. It offers 24.4 litres of storage and a 12/10-inch wheel setup. The Konark is cheaper and offers 31 litres of storage along with two ride modes, but the Access's top variant has the advantage of single-channel ABS.
The Suzuki Burgman Street starts at Rs 1.03 lakh. Its maxi-scooter design, keyless system and 25mm longer wheelbase set it apart from other scooters. It costs more than the Konark, but for those who want a comfortable ride and a distinct style, it could prove worthwhile.
Overall, the Konark can be considered by those with a fixed daily commute and charging facility at home. But for those who do not want to worry about charging, petrol scooters like the Activa, Jupiter and Access remain strong options.
