Kia Carens Clavis EV gets 15-year battery warranty from August 1, 2026

Kia India has made a major announcement regarding the high-voltage battery of its electric MPV, the Carens Clavis EV. According to the company, first owners of vehicles sold from August 1, 2026 will get a 15-year or unlimited-kilometre warranty on battery capacity. The company is calling this the "Lifetime High-Voltage Battery Warranty," though the actual term is capped at 15 years. The warranty will apply once battery capacity falls below 70 percent of its original capacity.

Earlier, the Carens Clavis EV's battery warranty was limited to 8 years or 160,000 km. Customers who bought the vehicle before August 1, 2026 can, if eligible, extend this same warranty to 15 years and unlimited kilometres. This will require a fee of Rs 3,400, along with the company's inspection and eligibility conditions. For second owners and vehicles used commercially, the earlier 8-year or 160,000-km limit will continue to apply.

On range, the Kia Carens Clavis EV is offered with two battery options, 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh, with certified ranges of 404 km and 490 km respectively. With the larger battery, the electric motor produces 126 kW, or about 171 hp, and 255 Nm of torque. Using a 100 kW DC fast charger, the battery takes about 39 minutes to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent.

On dimensions, the Carens Clavis EV is 4,550 mm long with a wheelbase of 2,780 mm. It is available in both 6-seater and 7-seater variants, making it a practical electric MPV for families. The company has also focused on charging and service support for electric vehicle owners, and the 15-year battery warranty is being seen as an important step in easing customers' long-term cost concerns.
