The Marine Department of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has issued an official notification for recruitment to pilot posts. The recruitment will be on a contract basis, under both Scheme-1 and Scheme-2. Interested and eligible candidates have been asked to apply in the prescribed format. The last date to apply for these posts is October 12, 2026.
Applicants must be Indian citizens. A candidate must have at least one year of experience as Chief Officer or above on foreign-going ships, and must hold a Master's Competency Certificate. If an Indian citizen holds a foreign competency certificate, they must also obtain the relevant endorsement from the Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping). The candidate's age at the time of entry into pilot service must not exceed 55 years. Candidates already working in government or semi-government organisations must apply through proper channel.
Candidates must send their applications along with required documents, including educational qualification certificates, competency certificates, CDC (Continuous Discharge Certificate) and caste certificate. Applications can be sent by speed post or registered post, or emailed to harbourmaster@jnport.gov.in. Attested copies of the caste certificate and other certificates must be attached with the application. Candidates called for interview will be informed of the interview date 7 days in advance. The interview will be held either in person or online at the office of the Deputy Conservator, located at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority's Administration Building, Nhava Sheva, Navi Mumbai.
Candidates selected under Scheme-1 and Scheme-2 will be given salary and allowances as per their tonnage slab. All selected candidates will initially be engaged as trainees.
