August was a strong month for Honda Cars India, with overall sales up about 40 percent compared to last year. The biggest driver of this growth was the Honda Amaze, which remains the company's top seller as its cheapest car.
Honda Cars India sold a total of 5,385 vehicles in August. In August 2025, the figure was just 3,850, a jump of about 40 percent. Compared to July 2026, when the company sold 6,014 vehicles, August saw a decline of about 10 percent. Honda currently sells four models: the Amaze, Elevate, City and ZR-V.
The Amaze remains the best-selling model. It was bought by 3,512 people in August, a 100 percent rise over last year, meaning sales doubled. In July, 3,436 units of the Amaze were sold, so August saw a further increase of about 2 percent.
Honda Elevate sales, on the other hand, fell. Only 1,326 units of the Elevate were sold in August. In August last year, 1,660 units were sold, a decline of 20 percent. In July, 1,949 units were sold, meaning a 32 percent drop last month.
As for the Honda City, only 514 units were sold in August. Honda's most expensive model, the ZR-V, sold just 33 units. The new City model has recently been launched, and the ZR-V is a completely built unit imported from abroad, which makes it expensive.
The Amaze is a sub-4-metre sedan that competes directly with the Maruti Dzire. It is priced from Rs 7.65 lakh, making it affordable for middle-class buyers. The car has a 5-star safety rating. It has a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 89 bhp, and the company claims a mileage of 19.46 kilometres per litre.
It has a 416-litre boot and 172 mm of ground clearance, which helps it handle potholes easily. It is available with both manual and automatic transmissions, and the company also offers a CNG option. Overall, the Amaze has been the car that has kept Honda's sales afloat, with its affordable price, good mileage and 5-star safety rating drawing buyers.
