Kainchi Dham back in spotlight after Hanuman Ansh, here is what visitors should know

Kainchi Dham in Uttarakhand is known for its peaceful surroundings. The ashram of Neem Karoli Baba was recently shown in the film "Hanuman Ansh", after which the place has become even better known. Set on the banks of the Shipra river, the dham gives devotees a distinct sense of calm as soon as they arrive. Anyone planning to spend a few days there away from city life should first know the route, the right time to visit, and the details of darshan.

Kainchi Dham is just 17 km from Nainital and can be reached by rail, road or air. The nearest railway station is Kathgodam, about 38 km from the dham. By road, it can be reached via Haldwani and Bhowali by car or bus in seven to eight hours. Travelling directly from Mumbai takes considerably longer, which is why most people first reach Delhi and continue the journey from there. The nearest airport is Pantnagar, from where a taxi can be taken to the dham.

The best time for darshan is considered to be between September and November. Visitors should think carefully before travelling during the monsoon, as roads can get blocked and there is a risk of landslides. Darshan timings at the dham are from 6:45 am to 8 pm. The aarti is held at 7 pm sharp in the evening, drawing a large crowd of devotees. A special kirtan is also held on Tuesdays, continuing until 9 pm.

Accommodation at the ashram is very limited, so it is advisable to book in advance either at the ashram or at a nearby hotel before travelling. Visitors should also note that the use of mobile phones, taking selfies, and photography or videography are completely banned inside the temple premises.
