The crime thriller "Haiwaan", starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles, is currently the talk of the town. With a big star cast, the film was expected to earn well at the box office, but its collection fell on the very second day of release. Films such as "Hanu-Man 2" and "Mirzapur: The Movie" continue to dominate the box office at the moment, and this appears to be affecting "Haiwaan".
According to data from industry tracker Sacnilk, "Haiwaan" earned Rs 3 crore from 7,224 shows on its first day. But instead of growing on the second day, the earnings fell sharply. On Saturday, the film collected only Rs 2.50 crore from 5,759 shows. This takes the film's total net collection in India over two days to Rs 5.50 crore.
On the second day, overall occupancy stood at 12.77 percent. The evening shows saw a relatively better response, with occupancy reaching 16 percent at that time. Even so, two days in, the film remains far from the Rs 10 crore mark. All eyes are now on how much the collection of "Haiwaan" picks up on the coming Sunday and the days after.
Several films of different genres are currently entertaining audiences at the box office. Films running in cinemas include "Mirzapur: The Movie", "Hanu-Man 2", "Mandadi", "Sardaar 2", "Epic" and "Video". Among these, "Hanu-Man 2" and "Mirzapur: The Movie" are getting a tremendous response from audiences. It will be interesting to see how "Haiwaan", starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, holds up in this competition.
The story of "Haiwaan" revolves around a blind man named Shyam, played by Saif Ali Khan. Shyam gets caught up in a tangled case involving a retired judge and a mysterious woman, which takes a dangerous turn in his life. He goes on to confront a ruthless killer consumed by revenge, Parashuram, played by Akshay Kumar.
Alongside Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, the film features Boman Irani, Sayami Kher, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Sharib Hashmi in key roles. Actor Mohanlal also has a special cameo appearance in the film. Notably, "Haiwaan" is the Hindi remake of Priyadarshan's 2016 Malayalam film "Oppam", which starred Mohanlal in the lead role.
