Akasa Air rolls out Ganesh Chaturthi special meal on flights
Akasa Air's Cafe Akasa is serving a Maharashtrian festive thali with Puneri usal, faral patties and puran poli tart through September
The Ganesh Chaturthi festive mood is no longer confined to homes and pandals, it is now reaching air travel too. Akasa Air has launched a special "Ganesh Chaturthi special meal" for passengers. The airline's inflight food service, Cafe Akasa, is presenting this festive menu for the fifth year running.
The special meal draws on Maharashtra's rich and varied food traditions. Keeping the traditional flavours of Ganeshotsav and the festive mood in mind, the menu combines both savoury and sweet dishes.
The special meal includes Puneri usal along with faral patties, puran poli tart and a drink of the passenger's choice, letting travellers enjoy a taste of Maharashtra's traditional food even while flying.
This special food service will be available throughout September 2026. Passengers can book the special meal before their flight through the Akasa Air website or mobile app. The menu, inspired by the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, presents familiar, well-loved flavours in a new form, aiming to give passengers a sense of the warmth and togetherness of the festive season.
Akasa Air rolls out limited-time special menus through the year to mark various festivals and occasions. New dishes are added to the menu from time to time based on changing passenger preferences and the season.
Since starting operations in August 2022, Akasa Air has offered passengers regional food items tied to various Indian festivals. Cafe Akasa has served special festive menus on occasions such as Makar Sankranti, Valentine's Day, Holi, Eid, Easter, Mother's Day, International Yoga Day, Nowruz, Onam, Ganesh Chaturthi, Dussehra, Diwali, Children's Day and Christmas.
Cafe Akasa's regular menu is also updated continually, designed to account for passengers' different dietary needs and food preferences. The menu has more than 45 food items, including fusion dishes, appetisers with a regional twist, snacks, a range of drinks and desserts, all prepared under the supervision of well-known chefs from across the country.
Cafe Akasa's regular menu also lets passengers who want to celebrate a birthday or other special occasion with family while flying pre-select a cake. This Ganeshotsav, passengers flying with the airline will get a chance to taste traditional Maharashtrian flavours in the sky through Puneri usal, faral patties and puran poli tart.
