Aaditya Thackeray back in spotlight over Disha Salian case, a look at his education, assets

Aaditya Thackeray, son of former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, is once again in the news. He has been in the headlines since his name surfaced in the Disha Salian death case. Aaditya Thackeray's name is among those mentioned in the CBI's FIR. He has previously served as a cabinet minister in the Maharashtra government and currently heads the Yuva Sena, the youth wing of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) party.

As for his education, Aaditya Thackeray did his schooling at Mumbai's well-known Bombay Scottish School. He then completed his graduation in history from St. Xavier's College in Mumbai. After graduation, he also earned an LLB degree from K.C. Law College.

Apart from his studies, Aaditya Thackeray shares his father Uddhav Thackeray's interest in photography. He also writes poetry and has written lyrics for some films. In 2007, a collection of his poems was published as a book titled "My Thoughts in White and Black". In 2017, he was elected president of the Mumbai Football Association, and in 2018 he was made a leader of the Shiv Sena party.

Aaditya Thackeray entered politics in 2010, when he was just 20 years old. He first came into the spotlight on a large scale after he opposed Rohinton Mistry's novel "Such a Long Journey". The protest eventually grew to the point where Mumbai University had to remove the book from its course.

On the matter of assets, in an affidavit filed ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections, Aaditya Thackeray had stated that he holds assets worth more than Rs 17 crore. He also owns a BMW car and jewellery worth around Rs 1 crore.
