Suraj Pancholi breaks silence, denies charges after CBI files FIR in Disha Salian case
Actor Suraj Pancholi said he never met Disha Salian or Aditya Thackeray and has cooperated fully with investigators.
After the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered an FIR in the case of the death of the late Disha Salian, Bollywood actor Suraj Pancholi is back in the headlines. Having stayed silent on the repeated allegations against him, Suraj has now issued a long and striking statement on social media.
In the statement, Suraj clarified that for the past few years his name had been linked to Disha Salian's death because of media reports and various statements, and that it had become necessary to put the real picture before everyone.
Taking a clear stand in his statement, Suraj Pancholi said, "I need to state this very clearly, that I have never met the late Disha Salian in my entire life, directly or indirectly. Besides, I have also never met Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray in my life." He also said that having his name linked to this case for so many years has caused him great distress.
Speaking about the action taken by investigating agencies, Suraj said that the CBI and the police had already questioned him in depth on this case some years ago and had recorded his statement. "I have nothing to hide," he said, asserting that he would give investigating agencies his full cooperation. He also said that if he is needed for further questioning or any additional information is required, he is completely ready.
Suraj called it deeply unjust and mentally distressing that his name was being linked to the case without any solid evidence. He said that although several claims and reports had surfaced over the past few years, he had thought it best to stay silent. But he said he now felt it necessary to put forward his side because of the continued attempts to defame him. He said it was wrong to use one person's unfortunate death to damage another person's reputation without any evidence, and that investigating agencies should also look into such false information.
Commenting on the discussions taking place in the media, Suraj Pancholi finally said in clear terms, "A headline is not proof, and discussion is not proof either." He said he has full faith in the country's law and its investigating agencies, and that the truth will come out soon. Following the CBI's latest action and Suraj's statement, the Disha Salian case has taken on renewed political and social discussion.
