Disha Salian case: Whoever is guilty must face the law, says Nilesh Rane
BJP leader Nilesh Rane says the CBI probe into Disha Salian's death must run its course before guilt is fixed
The Disha Salian death case is back in the headlines. Following a Bombay High Court order, the CBI has registered an FIR and begun its investigation. Reacting to this, BJP leader Nilesh Rane said the probe is still underway, so it would not be right to say right now who is accused and who is not.
Speaking to the media, Nilesh Rane said the CBI has sought documents such as call detail records, tower location reports and the postmortem report from Malvani police. According to him, the CBI will now investigate based on all these materials, and who is actually guilty in this case will become clear only once the investigation is complete.
Rane said whoever has committed a crime must be brought within the ambit of the law. However, he said it cannot be revealed right now who those people might be, and that this will only come out after the investigation.
Rane also said that in this case, Satish Salian's lawyer Nilesh Ojha has presented some evidence before the court. He claims certain aspects of the case do not add up, and that evidence and facts will be discussed further in the legal proceedings ahead.
Meanwhile, the political atmosphere has heated up further after the CBI registered its FIR in the Disha Salian case. The High Court had directed the CBI to investigate on September 2, after which the FIR was registered. Following this, Satish Salian sent Aditya Thackeray a defamation notice seeking 500 crore rupees. On Saturday, he arrived at Matoshree with his lawyers. The notice demands a public apology within seven days, warning that if no apology is issued, a claim for 500 crore rupees will be filed.
After news of the notice, a crowd of Shiv Sainiks gathered outside Matoshree and there was tension for a while. Aditya Thackeray's lawyers accepted the notice.
Aditya Thackeray, for his part, has said he did not know Disha Salian at all, and has rejected the allegations against him. With Satish Salian taking a legal stand on one side, Aditya Thackeray denying the allegations on the other, and the CBI investigation now underway, the case has returned to the spotlight. All eyes are now on what the CBI investigation finds and what happens next in court.
