A shocking case has come to light in the Seawoods area of Navi Mumbai, where two sisters were befriended through a dating app and called out to meet, and then allegedly assaulted. One of the victim sisters is a minor, making the case more serious.

The two sisters, who live in the Santacruz area of Mumbai, had connected with two unknown young men on the Tinder app a few days earlier. Chatting continued between them for some time. Police's initial investigation has found that the accused won the girls' trust during this period. The two sisters were then called to meet in the Seawoods area of Navi Mumbai. To make sure the girls faced no trouble coming there, the accused also booked an online taxi for them. After reaching Seawoods, the accused took the two sisters around a mall and other nearby places.

While out, the accused took the two sisters to a place where, it is alleged, they were forced to drink beer. Taking advantage of the sisters being intoxicated, the accused told them "let's rest for a while" and took them to a hotel in Seawoods. According to the complaint, the two sisters were then assaulted in the hotel room around midnight. After the incident, the two sisters returned home and told their parents everything that had happened to them, following which the family immediately approached the police.

An initial case has been registered in Mumbai and has been handed over to Navi Mumbai's NRI Sagari police for further investigation. Police have got both victims medically examined. CCTV footage from the mall and hotel area is being scanned to identify the accused, and details of the online taxi booked by the accused are also being used to trace them. There is likely to be an investigation into how one of the victims, despite being a minor, was allowed entry into the hotel, and whether the hotel management followed the rules will also be part of the probe. Police are searching for the accused, and further details in the case will become clear only after the investigation.
