iQOO 16 to launch in China on September 29, big battery and display in focus
iQOO has set September 29, 2026 as the China launch date for the iQOO 16, with reports pointing to a large battery and high-end OLED display.
iQOO is preparing to launch its new flagship, the iQOO 16. The company has fixed September 29, 2026 as the launch date for the phone in China. The phone is said to focus especially on gaming, display and battery. Some of these features have been revealed by the company itself, while the rest of the information has come from leaks and reports.
The phone's biggest highlight could be its display. The iQOO 16 is expected to get a 6.85-inch 2K OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 165Hz. It is reported to use Samsung's M16 light-emitting material and 2K LEAD 2.0 technology. The display's global peak brightness could reach up to 2,800 nits, while local peak brightness in smaller HDR sections could go up to 10,000 nits.
Special features are also being reported for gamers. The phone may get a 5,000Hz instant touch response and 500Hz multi-finger touch sampling. iQOO's Q-Flex technology could help reduce the delay between touch input and in-game action. According to reports, it may also come with a separate gaming chip.
Reports on the battery vary. Some mention an 8,400mAh battery, while leaks refer to an 8,500mAh silicon-carbon battery. It may also come with 100W fast charging. The exact battery capacity and charging speed will only be confirmed after launch.
On the processor front, the iQOO 16 is expected to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. The camera setup could include three 50MP rear cameras and a 50MP front camera, with a telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom. However, all of this information is currently based on reports and has not been confirmed by the company.
Discussion around pricing has also begun. The iQOO 16's starting price in China could be around CNY 5,000, which works out to roughly Rs 71,452 at current exchange rates. This is only an estimate based on currency conversion, and the actual price in India could differ. There is no official information yet on an India launch.
