A shocking case has come to light in the Harsul area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where an estranged husband, along with his family members, entered his wife's house at midnight and beat her up. The reason for his anger was trivial, he was upset that the victim had spoken to a relative in a public place.

According to the complaint filed with police, the victim had gone with her sister to a dargah in Khultabad for darshan. There, she happened to meet her sister-in-law's husband and the two got talking. Her estranged husband saw this and harboured resentment over it.

To take revenge, around 2 am on Saturday, 12 September, the estranged husband arrived at the victim's house in Harsul along with his brother, sister and another relative. On entering the house, the accused began abusing and beating the victim and her sister. According to the complaint, the accused woman held the victim tightly during this.

The accused then used scissors to cut off the victim's hair. The victim told police in her complaint that this was done with the intention of disfiguring her. During the assault, the estranged husband took out a leather belt and struck her on the head and face, injuring her. The complaint also alleges that the husband threatened that he would not let her live if she did not stay with him.

When the victim and her sister raised an alarm, neighbours and people nearby rushed to help. Seeing the crowd gather, the accused fled the scene. The injured victim was then admitted to Ghati Hospital for treatment. After treatment, she filed a complaint at Harsul police station on Monday, 14 September.

Given the seriousness of the case, on the orders of police inspector Swati Kedar, a case has been registered against the estranged husband, his brother, sister and another relative under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The matter is being further investigated by Harsul police.
