Man known from mobile chats breaks into woman's home at night, rapes her in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
Police have booked a 22-year-old man after a woman alleged he forced his way into her home at night and raped her after she refused to meet him.
A disturbing case has emerged from the Ranjangaon Shenpunji area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. In a complaint to police, a woman said a man she already knew had insisted over the phone on meeting her, and when she refused, he broke into her house at night.
According to the complaint, after entering the house he shut the bedroom door and raped her after threatening to kill her husband and father-in-law.
A case has been registered against Sachin Anil Rathod (22) at Waluj MIDC police station. Police have begun an investigation.
Police said the accused, Sachin Rathod, used to live near the complainant's house a few years ago, which is how the two knew each other. The woman said in her complaint that they used to exchange calls and messages on the phone. When her father-in-law learned of this, he had asked the accused to leave the area. Despite this, the accused kept trying to stay in contact with her, the complaint states.
On September 10, the accused called the woman and said he wanted to meet her, but she refused outright. That night, around 11 pm, she heard a sound at the back door of her house. When she opened the door after hearing the noise, the accused entered the house, she said in her complaint. He then allegedly went into the bedroom and shut the door.
The woman said that when she tried to raise an alarm, the accused threatened to kill her husband and father-in-law. Under this threat, she has alleged, he forced himself on her. The incident has caused shock in the area, and the woman gathered the courage to go to the police station and file a complaint.
After the incident, the woman went to Waluj MIDC police station and lodged a complaint. Based on this complaint, police have registered a case against Sachin Anil Rathod. Police are investigating the allegations and taking further action. The allegations are currently based on the woman's complaint, and further details will emerge during the investigation.
