BMW hikes F 450 GS adventure bike price by up to Rs 30,000 in five months

BMW Motorrad has raised the price of its F 450 GS adventure bike, just five months after launching it. Prices across the bike's variants have gone up by Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000, meaning buyers planning to purchase the bike will now have to pay more than before.

The price hike is believed to be due to rising costs and growing demand for the bike. However, the company has not added any new features or made any mechanical changes alongside the price increase.

The F 450 GS comes in three variants. At launch, the base variant was priced at Rs 4.70 lakh ex-showroom, which has now been increased by Rs 25,000 to Rs 4.95 lakh ex-showroom. Next is the Exclusive variant, which was earlier priced at Rs 4.90 lakh and has also seen a Rs 25,000 hike, now priced at Rs 5.15 lakh. The most expensive variant, the GS Trophy, has seen the biggest increase of Rs 30,000. Previously priced at Rs 5.30 lakh, it will now be available at Rs 5.60 lakh ex-showroom.

The BMW F 450 GS is manufactured in India, with production taking place at the company's Chennai plant. After being built here, the bike is also exported to several countries, including in Europe. Demand for adventure bikes with engines under 500cc is rising globally. Growing demand, supply issues and rising production costs are considered the main reasons behind the price increase.

Despite the price hike, BMW has made no changes to the F 450 GS's engine or features. The bike continues to run on the same 420cc parallel-twin engine, producing 48 hp of power and 43 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike offers Rain, Road and Enduro riding modes, which allow throttle response, traction control and ABS to be adjusted according to road and surface conditions.

The F 450 GS has a steel tube frame and steel tube subframe. It gets 43mm USD forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear, with disc brakes on both wheels. For safety and control, it comes with features such as ABS Pro, ride-by-wire, an anti-hopping clutch, dynamic traction control and dynamic engine brake control.

The bike features a 6.5-inch colour TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity. It also gets heated grips, a USB Type-C port and adjustable levers. The base and Exclusive models come in Cosmic Black, while the GS Trophy is available in Racing Blue. The Trophy variant also gets extra features such as white hand guards, a tinted rally windscreen, white chassis accents and an aluminium engine guard. Following this price hike, the F 450 GS has gained an even more premium position in the mid-size adventure bike segment.
