Recruitment exam reform panel to visit Nagpur on September 16

The chairman and members of a high-level committee formed to reform the state's government recruitment exam system will arrive in Nagpur on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 11 am. They will take part in a dialogue programme at Niyojan Bhavan in Civil Lines, behind Sadar police station. Divisional Commissioner Vijaylakshmi Bidari has appealed to everyone connected with the Nagpur revenue division to take part enthusiastically in the process and place their suggestions and opinions before the committee. According to her, the matter concerns the future of competitive exam candidates across the state.

Bidari made these remarks during a review meeting at the divisional commissioner's office hall today. District Collector Kumar Ashirwad, Additional Commissioner Pradeep Kulkarni and District Civil Surgeon Nivrutti Rathod were present at the meeting, while Dr Ganesh Mule, director of the information and public relations office, joined via video conferencing. Officials from the municipal corporation and related departments also attended.

The Maharashtra government formed this high-level committee to make government recruitment exams more secure, transparent, reliable and candidate-centric, and to curb irregularities in exams. The committee has sought suggestions on reforming the exam system from students, competitive exam candidates, parents, teachers, representatives of educational institutions, coaching classes, study room operators, elected representatives, citizens and other stakeholders from every revenue division in the state. As part of this, the committee's chairman and members will visit Niyojan Bhavan in Civil Lines on September 16. Ahead of this, a special cell has been set up at the District Collector's office in Nagpur to collect suggestions from people of the Nagpur division, which will remain open until 6 pm on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

People can submit their suggestions and opinions to the Resident Deputy Collector at the District Collector's office, Nagpur. Those wishing to submit suggestions in person can do so at the personal branch of the District Collector's office. Written opinions can also be emailed to nagpur-examreformstaskforce@maharashtra.gov.in. Citizens who cannot visit the special cell at the District Collector's office in person have been urged to send their suggestions by email within the given deadline.

The matters on which the committee has sought suggestions include a review of the current exam system and the functioning of various departments, authorities and exam-conducting bodies; measures to make exams more secure, fair, transparent and candidate-centric; security from question paper preparation to declaration of results; question paper moderation; digital or printed distribution; confidential transport; management of exam centres; and response registration and evaluation.

Suggestions have also been sought on the effective use of information technology such as biometric authentication, entry control, audit trails and CCTV surveillance, as well as on precautionary measures and fixing accountability to prevent paper leaks, breach of confidentiality, impersonation of candidates, collusion and misuse of electronic devices. Suggestions can also be given on studying successful and modern exam systems of other states or countries, minimum infrastructure and security standards for exam centres, coordination between the District Collector's office, police machinery, the education department and exam bodies, and a fast and transparent grievance redressal system for candidates.

All suggestions and opinions received through the District Collector's office will be collected and handed over to the state government's high-level committee. The committee will study these suggestions and recommendations in depth and submit a comprehensive final report to the state government. All concerned people have been urged to place their suggestions and opinions before the committee.
