India-Afghanistan T20 series begins Sunday at Arun Jaitley Stadium
India take on Afghanistan in a three-match T20 series starting September 13 in Delhi, with India playing as the visiting side
The three-match T20 International series between India and Afghanistan begins on Sunday, September 13. All three matches will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Since the series is being organised by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), the Indian team will be playing as the visiting side on this ground for the first time, meaning India will take the field not as hosts but as visitors on their own turf. With just two days left for the series to begin, preparations for both teams are in the final stages.
After winning the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, the Indian team will now take on Afghanistan in the T20 series. Shreyas Iyer will captain the side, with Tilak Varma named vice-captain. The squad also includes 15-year-old explosive batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi, drawing special attention from fans to the young player.
All matches in the series will start at 7 pm. The toss will take place half an hour earlier, at 6:30 pm. If a full 20-over match is played, it is likely to finish by around 10:30 pm. Afghanistan's team has performed well in recent times, so the series is expected to be closely fought, with fans set to witness an exciting contest between the two sides.
