Palghar swimmer Keval Chaudhary swims 81 km in Bhagirathi river, sets record

Virar swimmer Keval Chaudhary has pulled off a major feat through hard work, consistent practice and self-belief. He successfully completed the full distance in an 81 kilometre open-water swimming competition held on Sunday, September 6, in the Bhagirathi river in West Bengal's Murshidabad district. With this achievement, Keval Chaudhary has become the first swimmer from Palghar district to complete a distance of 81 kilometres.

The competition in the Bhagirathi river began at 5 am. Challenges such as the river's current, changing weather and the heavy strain on the body are common in long-distance open-water swimming. But Keval Chaudhary maintained his pace from the start. Even after covering 35 to 40 kilometres, he did not lose heart and continued on. Overcoming the fatigue and mental strain that come from staying in the water for many hours, he eventually completed the full 81 kilometre distance. Physical capability, along with mental strength and a refusal to give up till the end, played a key role in this success.

Behind this historic achievement lies several months of hard work by Keval Chaudhary. He trained regularly at a swimming pool in the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation area, paying special attention to building the stamina, speed and mental preparation needed for long-distance swimming. Throughout this journey, he had the guidance of coach Vidyanand Mulik. It was the disciplined training under the coach's supervision and his own self-belief that helped him reach the difficult target of 81 kilometres.

Keval Chaudhary's success has brought a wave of joy among swimmers and sports enthusiasts in Virar and the Vasai-Virar area, and he is being praised from all quarters for becoming the first swimmer from Palghar district to complete a distance of 81 kilometres. After the feat, Keval Chaudhary thanked the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation, coach Vidyanand Mulik, the swimming pool staff, and his friends and colleagues. He said it was the support he received, from preparation through to the actual competition, that helped him overcome this major challenge.

An 81 kilometre target, several hours of difficult swimming, and a determination that held firm till the end, Keval Chaudhary's achievement has added a new chapter to Palghar district's sporting world, one that will also inspire new swimmers.
