Rain shadow over Ganeshotsav as Maharashtra issues yellow alert for 8 districts
The weather department has put eight Maharashtra districts on yellow alert for September 14 even as monsoon rain brings relief to farmers.
Conditions have turned favourable for the monsoon again in Maharashtra, with rain falling across several parts of the state, ranging from heavy downpours to moderate and light drizzle. The rain has brought some relief to people and farmers who had been waiting for it for several days. Meanwhile, the weather department has placed eight districts of the state on yellow alert for September 14.
In the Konkan region, conditions currently remain favourable for rain. A yellow alert has been issued for Palghar and Thane districts, where heavy to very heavy rain is likely, with wind speed also expected to pick up in some places. However, no alert has currently been issued for Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, where light drizzle is possible in some places and the sky is likely to remain cloudy.
In North Maharashtra too, a yellow alert is in place for the ghat areas of Nandurbar and Nashik, where heavy to very heavy rain is expected. Dhule, Jalgaon and the rest of Nashik are expected to receive light to moderate rain, and no alert has been issued for these districts. A change in weather is expected here again after September 14, so people have been advised to keep track of further updates.
In Western Maharashtra, light to moderate rain is likely today in Pune, the Pune ghat area, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli and Solapur districts. Some areas may see thundery, heavy rain, but no warning of heavy rain has been issued for these districts. Several parts of Western Maharashtra also received light to moderate rain on Sunday, and a further change in weather is expected after Monday.
In Marathwada, light to moderate rain is likely in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed and Nanded districts, while light drizzle is expected in some places in Hingoli, Latur and Dharashiv. After this, the sky is likely to remain cloudy with dry weather in some places, and farmers are keeping a close watch on how much rain falls.
In Vidarbha, Akola, Amravati, Buldhana and Nagpur districts have been placed on yellow alert, where heavy to very heavy rain is likely along with light to moderate rain in some places. No alert has been issued for the rest of Vidarbha's districts, though rain is expected in most areas, after which the weather is likely to turn dry, warm and cloudy.
Overall, eight districts of Maharashtra have been put on yellow alert for September 14, while the rest of the state can expect light to moderate rain and thundery drizzle in some places. The rain over the past two days has brought some relief, but it has not rained well everywhere in the state, so all eyes are on how the monsoon behaves going forward and whether the rain intensifies again.
According to the temperature forecast, the maximum temperature on Tuesday, September 15, is expected to be 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum 26 degrees Celsius. On Wednesday, September 16, the maximum is expected to be 32 degrees and the minimum 27 degrees; on September 17 and 18, the maximum is expected to be 32 degrees and the minimum 26 degrees, with the same conditions expected on Saturday, September 19. On September 20 and 21, the maximum temperature is expected to be 33 degrees and the minimum 26 degrees, while on September 22 and 23 the maximum could be 32 degrees and the minimum 26 degrees. On Monday, September 24, the maximum temperature is expected to be 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum 27 degrees Celsius.
