Bank of India unveils 12 new digital banking features at Global Fintech Fest
Bank of India rolled out a dozen digital initiatives spanning payments, cards, digital currency and fintech partnerships at Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai
Bank of India took a major step in digital banking at the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026, held in Mumbai from September 9 to 11. The bank launched 12 new digital initiatives at the event, covering payments, cards, digital currency, self-service banking, compliance, customer engagement and partnerships with fintech companies. The bank's stall was inaugurated in the presence of its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Rajneesh Karnatak.
On digital payments, the bank introduced six new features. Through UPI Help 2.0, customers will be able to view their UPI transaction history, file a complaint, track it, and manage UPI mandates linked to their Bank of India account. This feature has been added to the Omni Neo mobile app. Additionally, the Transaction Replay feature allows customers to restart a previous UPI transaction. The bank has also launched UPI Tap and Pay on PoS, which will allow contactless UPI payments by tapping an NFC enabled smartphone on a PoS machine.
The bank has also introduced AI based payment solutions for UPI and RuPay cards. After the customer's necessary verification and approval, an AI agent will be able to automatically carry out tasks such as bill payments, subscription renewals or small purchases. Customers will have the right to modify or cancel these permissions. For corporate customers, an IMPS Bulk Payment facility has also been launched in partnership with NPCI, allowing a large number of payment requests to be sent at once.
In the digital currency space, Bank of India has launched a User-level Programmable Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) facility. This allows specific conditions to be set on how, where and for how long a digital token can be used. This technology can be used for targeted subsidies, relief funds, purpose-based benefits and Direct Benefit Transfer schemes, and can help confirm that funds are being used for the purpose for which they were given.
At GFF 2026, the bank also introduced the Terra Mastercard World Credit Card. This is a contactless international credit card that emphasises travel, lifestyle and global payment features, and can be used at ATMs, PoS terminals and e-commerce platforms. Cardholders will get airport lounge access along with benefits related to travel, entertainment, dining, mobility, wellness and digital subscriptions. According to the bank, there is no charge for issuing the card; the annual membership fee for the primary card is Rs 990 and for the add-on card is Rs 750.
Along with Hitachi, Bank of India also presented a Proof of Concept for an Android based Cash Recycler Machine. Besides conventional ATM functions, this machine will offer UPI based cardless cash withdrawal, Green PIN generation and real-time debit card issuance. Customers will be able to collect a personalised physical debit card instantly from the machine after completing the application and authentication process.
The bank also introduced E-Kosha 2.0, a Conversational Banking solution built with ToneTag, which will let customers interact with the bank by voice. Going forward, its scope could be expanded to account related services, payments, fund transfers, loans, insurance, investment and customer service. The bank also introduced platforms such as ALPHA PLUS, the FinTech Connect Portal and Markytics. Through the FinTech Connect Portal, fintech companies will be able to pitch their proposals to the bank without paying any fee. According to Bank of India, the aim behind all these initiatives is to build a future-ready, secure and inclusive banking ecosystem.
