Nadgonde Ravens beat Belfins Tigers 4-3 to win PYC Cup badminton title

Nadgonde Ravens won the 12th PYC-Truspace Cup badminton league organised by PYC Hindu Gymkhana in Pune. In the final, Ravens beat Belfins Tigers 4-3 to lift the cup. The match was played at the badminton courts of PYC Hindu Gymkhana Club, with Ravens giving a tight fight from the start.

In the first match of the gold open doubles, Ravens' Prateek Dharmadhikari and Kedar Nadgonde beat Tigers' Ishan Lagu and Nikhil Chitale 15-11, 15-12 to give their team a winning start. In the third match of the open doubles, Tigers' Mihir Vinzhe and Preeti Sapre beat Ravens' Manish Shah and Pranjali Nadgonde 15-3, 15-7 to level the score. In the fourth match of the veteran doubles, Amod Pradhan and Anand Ghate defeated Avinash Doshi and Sameer Sawla 16-14, 17-15, putting Tigers ahead.

In the fifth match of the veteran doubles, Ravens' Chandrashekhar Apte and Vishwas Mokashi beat Bal Kulkarni and Parikshit Deval 20-18, 15-9, bringing Ravens level again. In the sixth match of the open doubles, Tigers' Karna Mehta and Yash Mehendale beat Ravens' Aashay Kashyap and Vinit Rathi 11-15, 16-14, 15-13, putting Tigers ahead once more. In the seventh match of the open doubles, Ravens' Chinmay Chirputkar and Prithvi Shah beat Abhishek Tamhane and Tanish Belgalkar 15-12, 15-8, levelling the score at 3-3. The final then came down to the mixed doubles match.

In the deciding mixed doubles match, Ravens' Rian Karandikar and Sara Naware beat Tanmay Chobhe and Neha Lagu 15-7, 12-15, 15-10. With this win, Ravens took the final 4-3 to clinch the title. The winning Nadgonde Ravens team was presented with the cup and medals. The prizes were given away by PYC Hindu Gymkhana president Kumar Tamhane, secretary Deepak Gadgil, joint secretary Sarang Lagu and Truspace director Ashwin Trimal. Also present on the occasion were Ulhas Trimal, Soham Joshi of Mystic Jungle, club badminton section secretary Tanmay Agashe, Nandan Dongre, Abhishek Tamhane, Siddharth Bhave, Shirish Sathe, Amod Pradhan and several other dignitaries.

Other award winners were as follows: best pair in gold doubles, Kedar Nadgonde/Prateek Dharmadhikari; in silver doubles, Karna Mehta/Yash Mehendale; in bronze doubles, Abhishek Tamhane/Tanish Belgalkar; in veteran doubles, Makarand Chitale/Anil Dedge; and in mixed doubles, Rian Karandikar/Sara Naware. Player of the tournament in the men's category went to Prateek Dharmadhikari/Karna Mehta, and in the women's category to Sara Naware. Player of the tournament in the veteran category went to Siddharth Sathe/Hemant Karmarkar, while the emerging player award went to Anvit Rajwade. Match of the tournament was the game between Ishan Lagu/Nikhil Chitale and Anish Rane/Krishnanil Gore.
