India will play a three-match ODI series against the West Indies starting September 27. The series opener will be played at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. The Indian squad for the series has been announced.

However, India will not field its full first-choice team this time. This is because the 2026 Asian Games are also coming up, so six or seven key ODI players are missing from the squad against the West Indies. As a result, the selection committee has given several players, including the experienced Ravindra Jadeja, a chance in ODI cricket.

The series is being seen as very important for captain Shubman Gill. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will also feature in this series. Both experienced players will look to answer their critics with strong performances in the series. Besides this, the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar has handed wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul a big responsibility by naming him vice-captain of the ODI team.

Dhruv Jurel has been picked as the second wicketkeeper-batter and has been included in the squad in place of Rishabh Pant. Ruturaj Gaikwad has also been given a chance and will look to prove himself once again. Yashasvi Jaiswal has also returned to the squad. Experienced Ravindra Jadeja has found a place in the ODI team after a long gap. Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has also made a comeback.

The selection committee has left Nitish Kumar Reddy out of the squad for the 2026 Asian Games. Hardik Pandya is not yet fully fit. Besides this, spin all-rounder Naman Dhir has also been given a place in the squad. Dhir has consistently performed well in domestic cricket. Fast bowler Aaqib Nabi has also been included in the ODI squad. Nabi had earlier been added to the Test squad in place of Jasprit Bumrah.

India's ODI squad for the West Indies series is as follows: Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Mohammed Siraj, Aaqib Nabi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Naman Dhir.
