Mhasani students star in running races and discus throw at taluka meet
Students from Mhasani village dominated athletics events at the Manora taluka-level school sports competition
As per the directive of the Maharashtra State Directorate of Sports and Youth Services, Pune, the District Sports Officer's office, Washim, conducts school sports competitions every year. As part of this, the taluka-level school athletics competition was held on Wednesday at the Manora Taluka Sports Complex ground. Guided by taluka sports coordinator Pradeep Deshmukh, the competition was held enthusiastically, with students from various schools in the taluka taking part.
Students from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vidyalaya in Mhasani village, located at the far end of the taluka, put up a notable performance in the competition. Boys and girls in the 14, 17 and 19 age groups took part in both individual and team events. The players showcased their skills to win first and second positions, earning them a place in the district-level competition. Players who performed well at the taluka level will now compete at the next stage, the district level.
In the boys' 17-year age group athletics events, Mhasani students dominated. Mukesh Khaire won the 100-metre race, while Sumit Hadagode took first place in the 400-metre race. Naman Tike won the 110-metre hurdles race, Mukesh Khaire again took first place in the long jump, and Kartik Tike came first in the discus throw. The 400-metre relay race was also won by the Mhasani team, comprising Mukesh Khaire, Sumit Hadagode, Naman Tike and Kartik Tike. Students from the same school winning top positions across so many different events was a highlight of the competition.
Girls from Mhasani also made a mark. Riya Kanade won first place in the discus throw event. Some other players also secured second place. In the boys' 100-metre race, Sumit Hadagode came second, while in the 200-metre race, Kartik Tike finished second.
All winners who secured first and second positions at the taluka-level competition are now eligible for the district-level competition. The students' achievement was praised by the school's headmaster, teachers, sports enthusiasts and parents, and their performance is being discussed widely.
