Wardha police arrest two-wheeler thief, recover four stolen vehicles
A 21-year-old man arrested in Wardha has confessed to stealing vehicles across Wardha, Nagpur and Chandrapur, police said
A Honda Activa (registration MH-32-BF-1546, worth around Rs 60,000) was stolen near Nalanda Nagar Mahila Ashram in Wardha on August 8, 2026. Following a complaint from the victim, Wardha City police station registered a case under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (crime number 1303/2026) and began investigating.
On September 9, 2026, acting on a tip-off, Wardha City police detained Anurag Pravin Dhabarde, 21, a resident of Talodi in Selu tehsil, Wardha district. During questioning, the accused admitted to stealing the Activa and also revealed that he had stolen other vehicles in Wardha, Nagpur and Chandrapur.
Police recovered four stolen vehicles from the accused, which also helped crack several other cases. A Honda Shine (MH-40-BM-1977, worth around Rs 50,000) was recovered in connection with crime number 384/26 (Section 303(2)) registered at Hingna police station, Nagpur district. A Royal Enfield (MH-34-AS-1120, worth around Rs 1,50,000) was recovered in crime number 713/2026 (BNS Section 303(2)) registered at Rajura police station, Chandrapur district. A Hero Honda Splendor Plus (MH-32-S-8869, worth around Rs 15,000) was seized in crime number 1508/26 (BNS Section 303(2)) registered at Wardha City police station. In all, four two-wheelers worth a total of around Rs 2,15,000 have been recovered. Police said more thefts could come to light.
The accused was produced before the Wardha district sessions court, which has granted police custody remand from September 10 to September 11, 2026. Police said further cases of theft could be uncovered, and investigations are under way into where the stolen vehicles were sold and who else may be involved.
The action was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Saurabhkumar Agrawal, Wardha, Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare, Wardha, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sunil Mahadik. It was led by Wardha City police station inspector Nageshkumar Chatarkar, with Police Sub-Inspector Sharad Gaikwad and Police Head Constables Mahendra Patil and Abhijit Waghmare, along with Police Constables Ranjit Bhurse and Amol Salwan of the crime detection unit.
