Thief breaks open donation box at Wardha's Bhavani temple, flees with Rs 30,000

A theft has been reported at the well-known Bhavani temple in Allipur village of Wardha district. The temple is old and holds special significance in the area. On the night of Pola, an unidentified thief entered the temple, broke open the steel donation box kept inside and made off with around Rs 30,000 in cash. A CCTV camera installed at the temple recorded the entire incident, which could help police trace the accused.

According to the information available, the theft took place at the same old temple located in Bhavani Ward of Allipur. Around 11 pm on the night of Pola, an unknown person entered the temple premises. He first broke open the steel donation box and then fled with about Rs 30,000 kept inside it. Since there was no movement of people in the temple premises so late at night, the thief did not take much time to carry out the act.

The temple is known in the area as a place of deep faith, and a large number of devotees visit it every day. The temple's grand building was constructed by the temple committee, which is also responsible for the upkeep and management of the entire premises.

The theft came to light in the morning, causing a stir in the temple premises. On seeing the broken donation box, people quickly realised that an incident had occurred during the night. As word spread, temple committee president Bajrang Khond, along with other office-bearers and members, reached the spot. The temple committee then filed a complaint against the unidentified thief at Allipur police station.

On receiving information about the case, Allipur police also began an investigation. Under the supervision of station in-charge Sangeeta Helonde, police are examining the CCTV footage. Since the accused's movements have been captured in the footage, police are hopeful it will help identify and catch him.

Police are currently searching for the accused and the investigation is ongoing.
