Truck driver, cleaner held from UP for cheating Wani Hinganghat firm of soya feed
Police recovered a truck, feed and other goods worth over Rs 50 lakh after the two accused sold the consignment to poultry farmers in Uttar Pradesh
Janakiram Adivira, 58, manager of Saguna Company at Chhoti Wani in Hinganghat, a resident of Adigapeth, Puducherry, currently staying at Jognaputra Layout in Hinganghat, lodged a complaint at Hinganghat police station on August 19, 2026. Based on the complaint, a case was registered under Crime No. 1342/26 under Section 316(3).
According to the complaint, on August 1, 2026, the driver of a trailer truck bearing registration number UP 42 DT 3644 had left Saguna Company loaded with 41.960 metric tonnes of soya DOC poultry feed, valued at around Rs 29,28,095, bound for Muzaffarpur in Bihar. The consignment never reached its destination, with the accused disappearing with the goods, defrauding the company.
The investigation was carried out under the supervision of Police Inspector Anil Raut. Acting on his information, a team from Hinganghat police station traced the accused and the goods to Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. Based on technical and secret information, police arrested trailer cleaner Yugrajsingh Yadav there. During questioning, he told police that he and the trailer's driver, Anshul Verma, a resident of Ayodhya, had together sold the soya DOC poultry feed taken from Saguna Company in Wani Hinganghat to a poultry farm owner in Uttar Pradesh.
Police then arrested the trailer driver, Anshul Verma, a resident of Majgaon in Ayodhya district, Uttar Pradesh. Questioned further, both accused admitted to selling the soyabean meal poultry feed from Saguna Company to poultry traders in Uttar Pradesh.
Based on this, 96 sacks of poultry feed, valued at around Rs 4,30,560, were recovered from the poultry trader. Police also seized the trailer truck, UP 42 DT 3644, valued at Rs 45,00,000, used by the accused. Items purchased by the accused with the proceeds of the sale were also seized, including a Vivo mobile phone model T4R worth Rs 20,000, a Samsung F17 mobile phone worth Rs 20,000, a white metal ring set with a sapphire worth Rs 30,000, a white metal silver neck chain worth Rs 10,000 and a white metal silver bracelet worth Rs 10,000. Goods worth a total of Rs 50,20,560 were seized in all.
Accused number one, Anshul Mansaram Verma, 33, a resident of Majgaon in Ayodhya district, Uttar Pradesh, and accused number two, Yugrajsingh Shriramadhin Yadav, 27, a resident of Bhavanipur in Bhadohi district, Uttar Pradesh, were arrested and the case was cracked.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Wardha Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal, Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare and Hinganghat Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sushil Kumar Nayak. On the orders of Hinganghat police station's Police Inspector Anil Raut, the action was carried out by Police Sub-Inspector D G Palnotе, Police Head Constable Narendra Dahake of the crime detection squad, Police Naik Narendra Arekar and Police Constable Tabish Baig.
