Suriya and Jyotika renew wedding vows 20 years after marriage

South Indian cinema's popular couple Suriya and Jyotika celebrated their relationship afresh on the occasion of 20 years of their marriage. On this occasion, the two held a Christian wedding ceremony and exchanged wedding vows with each other again. Their children Diya and Dev were present at the ceremony, along with family members and close friends.

Suriya and Jyotika shared a video of the occasion on social media. In the video, Jyotika is seen entering the wedding venue in a white wedding gown holding her son Dev's hand, while daughter Diya is seen standing with Suriya. Suriya and Jyotika then stand facing each other and take their wedding vows again, a moment that was emotional for both of them. New photos from the occasion also gave a glimpse of these special moments. Suriya's brother, actor Karthi, was also seen at the celebration.

Sharing the video, Jyotika wrote an emotional post about their relationship. She said the ceremony was not a celebration of a "perfect marriage" but a celebration of the ups and downs their relationship has been through over the last two decades. Jyotika said the journey of love, understanding, compromise, sacrifice and accepting each other has made their relationship stronger. She added that after spending 20 years together, they were celebrating not just their relationship but also the changes that came into their personalities from being part of each other's lives.

Jyotika also had special words for Suriya, thanking him for being a partner who gives her security and respect in her life. She spoke of her feelings for their children too, saying that as a mother she wishes for her children to be happy seeing their parents' love story and hopes it makes them want a relationship like theirs when they grow up.

Jyotika also spoke of her friendship with Suriya. She said he is not just her husband but also a friend who stands by her, a trustworthy companion, and someone who understands what is on her mind. Describing herself in a lighter vein as an "imperfect wife", she noted that occasional arguments followed by understanding each other were part of the process that made their relationship stronger.

Suriya and Jyotika's love story is over two decades old. The two first met in 1999 on the sets of the film "Poovellam Kettuppar". Working together led to friendship, which later turned into love. After dating for a few years, the couple married on 11 September 2006. Now, on completing 20 years of marriage, Suriya and Jyotika took their wedding vows again, celebrating the love, friendship and family that have marked their relationship.
