Gold falls Rs 500, silver steady at yesterday's rate
Gold slipped to Rs 1,55,400 per 10 grams on September 15 while silver held at Rs 2,34,600 per kilogram, unchanged from the previous day.
Inflation is rising by the day and festive season shopping is getting harder, with the wedding season also approaching, so everyone is watching gold and silver prices closely. Both had seen a sharp rise a few days ago, but in a relief, prices fell today, September 15. Gold has become cheaper while silver is steady and selling at yesterday's rate.
In the bullion market, gold today fell by Rs 500 to Rs 1,55,400 per 10 grams. The fall is being attributed to rising crude oil prices and a sell-off in the global market against the dollar. Yesterday, September 14, the same 99.9 percent pure gold had closed at Rs 1,55,900 per 10 grams.
Silver prices across the country are steady today at Rs 2,34,600 per kilogram, with no change recorded. This is a relief for common people, as most buy silver coins, jewellery and utensils for Diwali.
In the international market, spot gold fell 57.22 dollars, or 1.3 percent, to 4,291.71 dollars per ounce, while silver prices fell nearly three percent to 62.82 dollars. Rising crude oil prices have heightened inflation concerns, creating pressure globally. This is affecting demand for gold and silver everywhere, causing prices to change rapidly worldwide. Even though gold prices have fallen in India today, they have risen considerably over the past few months.
