Shree Charani first Indian bowler to hit 804 points in T20I rankings, Deepti Shrma second

The Indian women's cricket team beat Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final of the Asia Cup 2026 to win the tournament for the eighth time. Following the win, the International Cricket Council released its women's T20I rankings, in which Indian players showed a strong performance and asserted their dominance. The strong showing at the Asia Cup directly benefited the Indian women players in the ICC rankings.

Indian spin bowler Shree Charani made a big leap in the ICC bowling rankings. She became the first Indian bowler to cross the 800 rating points mark, reaching 804 points, drawing praise from all quarters. Besides Shree Charani, Deepti Sharma's name also features on the list. Two Indian women players are among the top 10 T20I bowlers. Deepti Sharma also made a big jump in the T20I ICC rankings.

The players with the highest rating points in the T20I rankings are as follows: Megan Schutt (Australia) at number one, Shree Charani (India) at number two, and Sophie Ecclestone (England) at number three.

Shree Charani bowled with tremendous discipline throughout the tournament. From the league matches right through to the final, she took wickets for India at every difficult moment. The 12 wickets she took across the tournament proved to be the best spell of her career. It was her outstanding performance that helped the Indian team restrict opposing teams to low totals. With international series and world tournaments coming up, this form and the best ranking of her career are seen as a big relief for the Indian women's cricket team.

Meanwhile, Deepti Sharma, who put in a storming performance at the Asia Cup, jumped four places in the ICC rankings to reach second place directly. Across the tournament, Deepti Sharma bowled superbly and with discipline to take the most wickets, 14. In the final against Sri Lanka, she played a crucial role, dismissing three key batters while conceding just 19 runs.
