Sayani Gupta to star opposite Ross Butler in American film 'Arya'

Actress Sayani Gupta has several new projects this year. Her directorial debut short film 'Aasmaani' is receiving praise around the world, and she has now added another major milestone to her international career. Gupta is set to play the lead role in the American feature film 'Arya'. The film also features Ross Butler, known for 'Riverdale' and '13 Reasons Why', and Marc Evan Jackson, known for 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine', in key roles.
Written and directed by Neil Tuli, 'Arya' sees Gupta play a strict piano teacher at a well-known Indian music institute. Besides Butler and Jackson, the cast includes Arjun Gupta, Adi Roy, Kyra Leroux and Iqbal Theba. The film marks Gupta's debut as a lead actress in an American independent feature film.
In the story, Gupta's character reluctantly travels to northern Minnesota for work, where she is given charge of a troubled band program. She continues to grapple with the challenge of pursuing her career ambitions back in India. But after reaching northern Minnesota, things take an unexpected turn, and following a series of mishaps she also has to confront her own personal insecurities. 'Arya' is thus not just the story of a music teacher, but of her personal and professional journey.
Besides playing the lead role in 'Arya', Gupta is also serving as the film's executive producer. Ross Butler has also joined the project as an executive producer. Neil Tuli wrote and directed the film, which marks his debut as a feature film director.
Besides acting, Sayani Gupta has also stepped into direction and production. She wrote and produced her directorial debut short film 'Aasmaani' herself. The short film has been praised at several film festivals around the world, with its festival run continuing from Washington DC to Tokyo and Kerala. Even as her short film travels the festival circuit, Gupta is now making her entry into the American film industry with 'Arya'.
