Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Woman abused for two years on false promise of marriage
A 25-year-old beautician says her employer promised to divorce his wife and marry her, then beat her when she pressed the issue.
A case has come to light in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in which a 25-year-old woman was allegedly deceived and repeatedly sexually exploited. The complaint states that the accused committed the act after promising to divorce his wife and marry the woman. It also states that when she raised the subject of marriage, the accused beat her and flatly refused to marry her.
Based on the victim's complaint, a case of cheating and rape has been registered at Cidco police station against salon owner Vaneshwar Fakirrao Pandit, a resident of Pisadevi.
The complaint states that the victim had been working as a beautician at the accused's salon since March 2023, during which time the two got acquainted. In January 2024, the accused proposed marriage to her. When she learned he was already married and questioned him, he allegedly assured her he would soon divorce his wife and marry her. Trusting this assurance, she remained in contact with him, after which the accused allegedly had repeated physical relations with her and sexually exploited her, the complaint states.
Over time, the woman began to have doubts about the accused's behaviour. On realising she was being deceived, she ended their business partnership in June 2026 and began keeping her distance from him. The complaint alleges that the accused nonetheless kept visiting her salon repeatedly, telling her "I love only you" and putting emotional pressure on her. She was distressed by his continued attempts to contact her.
The woman then asked the accused to fulfil his promise of marriage. But the complaint states that when she raised the subject, the accused beat her and flatly refused to marry her.
Distressed by the entire episode, the woman went to Cidco police station and filed a complaint. Based on it, police have registered a case of cheating and rape against Vaneshwar Fakirrao Pandit under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police are verifying the allegations in the case, examining evidence of contact between the accused and the victim, the sequence of events and other related matters. The case is being investigated further by Cidco police.
