An attempt was made to kill a youth with a sword during a quarrel over money in the Sakkardara police station area of Nagpur. Two accused caught hold of the youth, and one of them struck at his neck with the sword. The youth raised his hand to save himself, so the blow did not land directly on his neck, but it caused a deep injury to the thumb of his left hand. When bystanders intervened, both accused fled the spot, though police later caught both of them.

The incident took place in the Sindhi Bunder Colony area of Bada Tajbagh. The injured youth has been identified as Mohammad Shakir Mohammad Iqbal. According to police, Shakir had gone to complainant Sheikh Sohail to ask for the return of money he had lent him. At that time, some people at the spot were already arguing among themselves. The accused, Sayyed Khanu alias Patel and Sayyed Sardar alias Younus Sayyed Khalil, mistakenly believed that Shakir had come there intending to pick a fight.

Under this misunderstanding, the two caught hold of Shakir. According to police, the accused Sardar alias Younus brought a sword from home and, threatening to kill him, struck at Shakir's neck. To save his life, Shakir raised his hand, so the blow landed on the thumb of his left hand, badly injuring it.

Before the accused could strike a second time, complainant Sheikh Sohail intervened and calmed the situation. Both accused then fled the spot, issuing threats as they left. The injured Shakir was taken to hospital for treatment, where he is currently being treated.

After receiving a complaint about the incident, Sakkardara police registered a case against both accused under sections related to attempt to murder and the Arms Act. Police have arrested Sayyed Khanu alias Patel and Sayyed Sardar alias Younus. Police said the accused Sayyed Khanu alias Patel already has a prior criminal case registered against him. Police are further investigating the matter.
