BMW India is preparing to raise prices across its entire model lineup, in what would be the company's fourth price increase this year. The continuing fall of the rupee and rising commodity costs are behind the move, meaning customers will have to pay more for the fourth time in 2026.

BMW Group India President and CEO Hardeep Singh Brar said currency fluctuations have significantly hit the company's margins. BMW and Mini car prices have already gone up by a combined 4 to 5 percent so far in 2026. The company is now considering another price hike, likely to come into effect next month. While no final decision has been taken yet, clarity is expected soon.

According to Brar, the relevant foreign currency has moved nearly 18 percent unfavourably against the rupee since January last year. This has pushed up the cost of imported cars and the company's overall expenses, compounded by rising commodity prices. The upcoming price hike could directly affect customers' purchase budgets, reflecting how currency swings over the past year and a half have forced the company to revise prices repeatedly.

Meanwhile, the company has launched the new BMW 7 Series in India, offering both petrol and fully electric options in its flagship sedan lineup. The new BMW i7 will be manufactured locally at the BMW Group plant in Chennai, making India the second country after Germany to produce the i7 locally, and the first country outside Germany to do so.

Bookings for the new 7 Series have opened at BMW India dealerships, with deliveries starting from October 2026. The BMW 740 M Sport and BMW i7 eDrive 50 xDrive M Sport are priced at Rs 1.95 crore each (ex-showroom), while the BMW i7 M70 xDrive is priced at Rs 2.65 crore. The upcoming price hike could push up prices further for these and other models, affecting customers planning to buy a new car.
