He said the song Jai Jai Ram was created from this enduring relationship.
A.R. Rahman said that at the heart of Jai Jai Ram is the simple but powerful feeling of invoking Lord Ram's name. He said an effort was made to bring this to audiences through a film song while retaining the sanctity and intimacy of a prayer. He said Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal brought Kumar Vishwas's words to life with their emotive voices, and expressed hope that listeners would find peace of mind while hearing the song and would be able to form their own personal connection with it.
Dr. Kumar Vishwas said the entire prayer is contained in the three words "Jai Jai Ram". He said the attempt was not to describe Lord Ram but to put into words the relationship every devotee has with him. He said the language was kept simple and direct because true devotion needs no display, and said he wanted every listener to feel their own prayer in the song.
The trailer of Ramayana, released earlier, had received a tremendous response from around the world. The makers claim the trailer crossed one billion views across digital platforms in just six days. The film's first song has now been released after that.
Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The film is being made under Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios banner, together with DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. Sony Pictures is handling the film's distribution outside India. Ramayana: Part 1 is the first instalment of this two-part film series, which will release in cinemas worldwide during Diwali 2026. Following the release of the first song, Jai Jai Ram, anticipation around the film's music has grown further.
