Biker cuts across Union minister Muralidhar Mohol's security convoy in Pune, case filed
A biker allegedly cut across Union minister Muralidhar Mohol's convoy at Sancheti Chowk in Pune, prompting police to file a case.
The security convoy of Pune MP and Union minister of state Muralidhar Mohol was cut across by a speeding biker at Sancheti Chowk in the Shivajinagar area. The biker is alleged to have driven carelessly and taken the bike very close to the convoy. Shivajinagar police have registered a case against the biker in the matter.
According to police, the incident took place around 8:30 pm on September 13. Mohol's security convoy was passing through Sancheti Chowk at the time. Police constable Ishwar Lakshman Bhikule, deployed for his security, was also present there. As the convoy was moving ahead from the chowk, a biker riding at very high speed cut across the security convoy, which came to the notice of the police personnel.
According to the complaint filed by police constable Ishwar Bhikule, 32-year-old Shubham Vijay Vanit, a resident of Nana Peth, cut across the convoy while riding the bike very fast and carelessly. The complaint states that given the manner in which the convoy was moving, such riding posed a risk to the vehicles in the convoy as well as other vehicles on the road. It also states that this kind of careless riding could have endangered the lives of ordinary people and other drivers.
Given the Union minister's security, traffic and vehicle movement around his convoy are considered very important. In this context, driving a vehicle at high speed close to a security convoy or attempting to overtake it can be considered a serious matter from a security standpoint. Following the incident, Ishwar Bhikule filed a complaint at Shivajinagar police station, on the basis of which a case was registered against Shubham Vijay Vanit.
Police are now investigating exactly how fast the bike was being ridden, the precise circumstances at the time it overtook the convoy, and whether the incident actually created any danger. The Shivajinagar police are carrying out further investigation into the case, and more details are expected once it is complete.
