Pune: MBBS student, 21, dies in fall from 10th floor, exam stress suspected
Police in Pune's Katraj are investigating whether exam stress led a second-year MBBS student to fall to her death from the tenth floor of her building.

A 21-year-old medical student died after falling from the tenth floor of Nancy Lake Home Society in Pune's Katraj area. The victim has been identified as Adi Maya Shekar Reddy. She was originally from Tirumalangari in Telangana and was studying in the second year of MBBS while living with her brother in Katraj.
According to the police station, sub-inspector Ravi Jadhav and his team rushed to the spot as soon as they received word that a girl had jumped from the tenth floor of the society. By the time police arrived, the girl was found unconscious in a critical condition. Police inspected the scene and questioned people in the vicinity about the incident.
Her brother, Dr. Adi Adim Shekar Reddy, was present at the time of the incident. He told police that his sister, Adi Maya, was in the second year of MBBS and lived with him in a flat in Katraj. He also told police that she had been under stress in recent days because her exams were underway. The brother said it was possible she took this step under exam pressure, though the actual cause of the suicide would become clear only after a police investigation.
The brother also told police that he did not suspect anyone in connection with the case. Police have for now registered a case of accidental death, and sub-inspector Ravi Jadhav is investigating further.
In a separate case from Pune, a 28-year-old man preparing for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) exams has died. He has been identified as Prathamesh Deshmukh, originally from Paranda, who was living in a rented house in Pune's Navi Peth area while preparing for competitive exams. Initial information suggests Prathamesh died by suicide and that he owed a debt of about two and a half lakh rupees, which police are investigating.
A two-page suicide note was recovered from the scene. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Hrishikesh Rawale, the note lists the names and details of 18 to 19 people from whom Prathamesh had borrowed money, along with details of how much he had repaid to each. Police are investigating why he borrowed money from so many people, the actual reason for the debt, and whether he was under any pressure, and are questioning his family as part of the inquiry.
