Prithvi Shaw, Akriti Agarwal call off engagement six months after getting engaged
Akriti Agarwal confirmed on Instagram that her engagement to cricketer Prithvi Shaw has ended by mutual consent.
Prithvi Shaw, the opener currently out of the India team, is in the news for his personal life as well. His form had already been under a cloud, and now he has had a setback in his personal life too. His fiancee Akriti Agarwal has revealed that the couple's relationship has ended just six months after their engagement. There had been talk of tension between the two for some time, and Akriti has now confirmed in an Instagram post that her relationship with Shaw is over. She wrote that the decision was taken by mutual consent.
Akriti wrote on Instagram: "With a heavy heart, I am sharing today that my fiance and I have decided to separate. Our goals and circumstances for the road ahead are different, and that is why we have taken this decision. No matter how much we love each other, no matter how much we care for each other, our paths are different, and we have accepted this. Given our responsibilities and current circumstances, we have decided by mutual consent to separate."
Akriti further wrote: "I pray for both of us that in the times ahead we both find good things, peace and happiness. I request everyone to respect our privacy at this difficult time. Also, please do not speculate about the reasons behind this decision and do not hold any misunderstanding. Thank you from the heart for understanding our situation and respecting our privacy."
Cricketer Prithvi Shaw and Akriti Agarwal got engaged on March 8 this year after a long relationship. At the time, the two appeared very happy and shared affectionate photos with fans. Fans had been eagerly awaiting Shaw's wedding, but the journey from engagement to marriage was never completed. There had been reports of strain in their relationship over the past few days, and on September 17 the two decided to end their relationship.
Prithvi Shaw, 26, was once considered a rising star of Indian cricket. In 2018, at the age of just 18, Shaw made his Test debut against the West Indies and scored a century in that very match. But his form declined after that and he was dropped from the team. He is currently struggling to hold his place in domestic cricket and the IPL as well.
