Disha Salian case: Uddhav Thackeray warns of legal action over defamation
Uddhav Thackeray says his family has no link to Disha Salian's death and threatens legal action if the defamation campaign continues.
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) chief Uddhav Thackeray has expressed strong displeasure over the continued targeting of the Thackeray family in the Disha Salian death case. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, September 17, he warned that if this defamation campaign continues, he will take the legal route. He firmly stated that neither he nor Aditya Thackeray have any connection whatsoever with the unfortunate incident, and alleged that his character was being assassinated purely for political vendetta.
After the Bombay High Court transferred the Disha Salian case investigation to the CBI, the CBI has registered an FIR without naming any individual in the case. Against this backdrop, speaking to the media in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Uddhav Thackeray said Disha Salian's death was an extremely painful incident, but his family has nothing to do with it. He also noted that Aditya Thackeray has already clarified his own position on the matter. Questioning how long baseless allegations can keep being made, he remarked sarcastically that all that remains now is to link Narendra Modi and Donald Trump's names to the case as well.
Uddhav Thackeray said he had stayed silent so far because a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was probing the case. He made clear that those who wish to investigate should go ahead and do so, but if this needless defamation campaign does not stop, legal steps will be taken.
MLA Aditya Thackeray had also put out his side on social media platform X. He had stated that he has never met Disha Salian or even known her, and that for the past six years he has been defamed purely for political and personal motives without any evidence.
Disha Salian was the former manager of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. She died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the twelfth floor of a building in Mumbai's Malad area. Following the Bombay High Court's order, the CBI has now begun investigating the case, once again heating up the state's political atmosphere.
