Drunk man abuses police on night patrol in Pombhurna, booked

A man abused and misbehaved with police personnel on night patrol duty in Pombhurna, Chandrapur district. A case has been registered against the 50-year-old at Pombhurna police station. The accused has been identified as Vinod Parshuram Pendor, a resident of Pombhurna.
The incident took place at Savitribai Phule Chowk. The accused obstructed government work in front of the station house officer and other police officers present, following which police immediately took him into custody.
A team led by Pombhurna police station house officer Rahul Thengane, along with police sub-inspector Bhushan Patil and police constable Panjabrao Wadguji Madavi, was on patrol in the area on the night of September 11, 2026. Between around 10:15 pm and 10:30 pm, when the police team reached Savitribai Phule Chowk, they found a man standing drunk in the middle of the road. He had injury marks on his face and body, and had parked his bike in the middle of the road in a manner that was causing heavy traffic disruption.
Realising the seriousness of the situation, sub-inspector Patil and constable Madavi got out of the vehicle and tried to persuade the man to move his bike and go home. Instead, he turned on the police personnel trying to reason with him, saying "Who are you to question me?" and began abusing the on-duty police in extremely foul language.
Despite repeated requests to stay calm, the man was in no mood to listen. Instead, he argued with the on-duty police personnel and directly obstructed government work. Police eventually took him into custody and brought him to the station. During questioning at the police station, he gave his name as Vinod Parshuram Pendor.
Based on a written complaint by police constable Panjabrao Madavi, Pombhurna police have registered a case against accused Vinod Pendor under sections 132 (assault or obstruction of a public servant), 221 (disobedience/obstruction of a public servant's order), 296 (obscene acts or abuse in a public place) and 285 (obstruction or endangerment on a public way) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The case is being further investigated by police constable Ankush Mandhade (buckle number 2645).
