An elderly woman in the jurisdiction of Lakadganj police station in Nagpur lost her gold bangles after two unidentified men engaged her in conversation on the pretext of polishing her jewellery. The accused, who introduced themselves as employees of "Royal Company", fled with gold bangles worth Rs 1.5 lakh after promising to make the jewellery shine. The sequence of events came to light through a complaint filed with the police.

The incident took place on the afternoon of September 18 in the Bhaurao Nagar area of Wardhaman Nagar. The complainant, Kumendrapal Madan, said his wife was standing outside their house at the time. Two men, both around 45 years old, approached her and introduced themselves as employees of "Royal Company". No one in the family knew the two men beforehand, but they were trusted based on their conversation.

The two men told Madan's wife that the company was offering free polishing of gold and silver jewellery and utensils, claiming the items would shine brighter after polishing. Believing them, she first handed over household utensils, which the men immediately polished and returned, further strengthening her trust in them.

After polishing the utensils, the men offered to polish her jewellery as well. Trusting them, Madan's wife handed over four gold bangles. On the pretext of polishing them, the two accused took the bangles and fled the scene. The two men remain unidentified, and police are searching for them.

Lakadganj police have registered a case and begun an investigation. Police are examining CCTV footage from the area to trace and identify the accused.
