Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles has launched the new Jawa 42, completing the brand's Jawa All Stars series ahead of the festive season. The motorcycle, which introduced the modern classic category in India, is being described as the biggest update to the model so far.

The All Stars Jawa 42 gets a new look, with a redesigned body, a stylish rear section, alloy wheels, new side panels and an upswept exhaust, making the bike look sportier and sturdier. The seating position has been kept comfortable for both city and highway riding. The bike is built on the J-Panther engine and retains Jawa's original design identity.

According to the company, the story of the All Stars range began with the Jawa rider, described as confident and independent-minded, but connected to the same discipline, trust and mutual respect found in communities ranging from the defence sector to sports. The Jawa All Stars range gives this shared feeling an identity through its distinctive badge.

The series was preceded by the Jawa 42 FJ, which gave the brand's modern classic identity a contemporary, sportier form. After that, Anand Mahindra unveiled the All Stars 42 Bobber at the Global Chess League. The new Jawa 42 is now the third bike in the range, the company's flagship, with more than 60 changes.

The Jawa 42 entered the market in 2018 as India's first modern classic range, featuring a distinctive off-centre instrument panel and multiple colour options. As the All Stars 42, this flagship model has now been substantially updated for India's newer riders.

Classic Legends co-founder Anupam Thareja said, "The most interesting communities are the ones that hold onto their own way of doing things without any show. That is what we have seen in the Jawa rider. This spirit of character, discipline and courage shows up in different places too, like the defence sector and sports. We carry this forward by bringing new variants suited to riders' needs, offering bikes with distinct designs, and respecting those who live by this thinking every day. The Jawa 42 helped start the modern classic category in India. The All Stars 42 carries that thinking forward, not by dropping what made the Jawa 42 special, but by rethinking what it should mean for today's rider."

On design, the bike has been given a wider, sturdier look to stand out more on the road. The rear section has seen significant changes, including a wider rear fender and a new 150/70-17 rear tyre for better grip. The Jawa 42's signature flat, bench-style seat has been retained, redesigned with new cushioning at a seat height of 790mm.

The bike gets a new alloy wheel design and a compact upswept exhaust for easier water clearance. New side panels, footpegs and the rear section give the bike a sturdier, sportier look. On the engine front, the Jawa 42 comes with a 294.72cc single-cylinder, four-stroke, liquid-cooled DOHC engine paired with a six-speed constant-mesh gearbox. Braking duties are handled by dual-channel ABS with a 280mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc.

The company says the engine-related changes are not just cosmetic. Work has gone into weight, frame and swingarm rigidity, seating position, handling and comfort to improve the bike's agility and control, while retaining its easy-handling character. The 13.2-litre fuel tank, round headlamp and signature bench seat that recall the older Jawa look have been carried forward.

The Jawa 42 is priced from Rs 1,79,942 and will be available at Jawa Yezdi dealerships across the country in six different colours.
