Nagpur: Two held for robbing youth at air-gun point in Panchpaoli
Two men with a criminal history robbed a Nagpur man of cash at air-gun point near Mehendibag, police said.
A robbery has come to light in the Panchpaoli police station area of Nagpur, in which two accused robbed a young man of cash after threatening him with an air gun that looked like a pistol. According to police, the accused first abused and assaulted the complainant, then took money from his pocket after threatening to kill him. Panchpaoli police have arrested both accused.
The incident took place near Mehendibag Power House Chowk. According to police, the complainant, Pankaj Kukde, had gone in front of the Jaiswal country liquor shop. The accused, Somesh Marskolhe and Sagar Yeti, allegedly began abusing him without any reason. It is alleged that the two assaulted him and also threatened to kill him.
After this, as Pankaj began heading towards his house, the two accused approached him again. According to police, accused Somesh Marskolhe pulled out an air gun that looked like a pistol and threatened and assaulted Pankaj. Meanwhile, the other accused, Sagar Yeti, allegedly forcibly took cash from the complainant's shirt pocket. After robbing the cash, both accused fled the scene on a motorcycle.
On learning of the incident, Panchpaoli police began an investigation. Police tracked down the accused based on CCTV footage, secret information and technical inputs, and eventually took both into custody.
During questioning, both accused confessed to their involvement in the crime. Police said the robbed cash, the air gun and the motorcycle used in the crime have been recovered from accused Somesh.
The investigation also revealed that both accused have a prior criminal record. According to police, about a dozen cases including murder, assault and robbery are already registered against the two at the Panchpaoli and Yashodhara Nagar police stations. Panchpaoli police are further investigating the case.
