Sri Lanka beat Pakistan to reach final, face India on September 13

Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 4 wickets in the second semi-final of the Women's Asia Cup 2026 to book a place in the final. The match was played at Dubai International Stadium. India had already sealed their spot in the final by beating Bangladesh, so the title clash between India and Sri Lanka will now be played at the same venue on September 13.

After losing the toss and batting first in the semi-final, Pakistan scored 130 for 5 in 20 overs. Pakistan did not get off to a good start, losing 5 wickets for just 96 runs in 17 overs. Captain Fatima Sana then played a superb innings of 47 runs off 36 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. She was supported by Tuba Hassan, who remained unbeaten on 12. The two put on 38 runs for the sixth wicket in the last 24 balls to take Pakistan to a respectable total. Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu took 2 wickets.

Chasing 131, Sri Lanka did not make a good start. In the second over itself, Fatima Sana struck twice off consecutive balls to dismiss captain Chamari Athapaththu and Sanjana Kavindi, giving Sri Lanka an early blow. By the sixth over, Sri Lanka had lost 4 batters for just 33 runs. Harshitha Samarawickrama and Kavisha Dilhari then steadied the innings. Harshitha scored 36 and Kavisha 33, and the two put on a crucial 67-run partnership for the fifth wicket that virtually sealed Sri Lanka's win. Fatima Sana eventually dismissed both of them as well, reducing Sri Lanka to 109 for 6, but by then the match had slipped out of Pakistan's hands. Nilakshi de Silva remained unbeaten on 18 off 10 balls. Fatima Sana took the most wickets for Pakistan, and Sri Lanka reached the target for the loss of 6 wickets in 18.4 overs. With this defeat, Pakistan are out of the tournament.

The final between India and Sri Lanka will start at 8 pm Indian time on September 13, with the toss half an hour before the match. The match will be shown live on Sony Sports Network in India, along with live streaming on the Sony LIV app and website.
