Pa. Ranjith unveils first glimpse of pan-India film Vettuvam, out December 2026

The first glimpse of the much-awaited film Vettuvam has finally been released. The film shows clashes between different groups over control of land, with the fights built around traditional martial arts of ancient India. The entire cast underwent intense training to master different forms of martial arts for these sequences.

This is Pa. Ranjith's first pan-India film, and anticipation has been building among audiences ever since the title Vettuvam was announced. Makers had earlier promised a glimpse of "The World of Vettuvam", and that promise has now been fulfilled. The teaser gives a sense of a grand world never seen before in Indian cinema. The story moves across different time periods, has a strong ensemble cast and elaborate production design, offering a glimpse of the director's vision and his larger cinematic world.

Unveiling "The World of Vettuvam", the makers also released a special video. The Hindi version of the video is narrated by Pankaj Tripathi, while Pa. Ranjith himself narrates the Tamil version. Rana Daggubati narrates the Telugu version, Kiccha Sudeep the Kannada version and Soubin Shahir the Malayalam version. The video introduces several aspects of the film, showing how events from the past have shaped the present and could go on to affect the future. These events set off a cycle of natural disasters that is feared to have a major impact on the future of humankind.

The teaser shows several groups clashing with each other for control over land, and this conflict is referred to as "Vettuvam". The film will also present the traditional sport of mallakhamb on the big screen in a new, never-before-seen way. The first glimpse also offers a look at the cast's striking looks, further building anticipation for the film.

The film features a strong cast including Arya, V. R. Dinesh, Shobhita Dhulipala, Kalaiyarasan, Mime Gopi, Guru Somasundaram, Shabeer Kallarakkal, John Vijay, Sai Dheena, Anand Sami, Harish Uthaman, Lizzie, Lingesh Prem Kumar, Kavitha Bharathi, Arjun, Shantha Kumar, Melody, Manisha, Nimmy, Raphael, Vikram, Naveen and Prakash.

Music by G. V. Prakash Kumar adds a distinct texture to the film's world, lending strong support to Pa. Ranjith's grand cinematic vision. Having directed acclaimed films such as Kabali, Kaala, Sarpatta Parambarai and Thangalan, Pa. Ranjith returns to audiences with Vettuvam, which is expected to be made on a large scale.

Written and directed by Pa. Ranjith, Vettuvam will release on a pan-India level in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. Produced by S. Sai Devanand, S. Sai Venkateswaran and Pa. Ranjith, the film is made under the banners of Learn and Teach Production and Neelam Productions. Vettuvam releases in December 2026.
