ST's NCMC card gets Aadhaar OTP option if biometric fails

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation is running registration and distribution of NCMC cards for Amrit senior citizen, senior citizen and women concession passengers under its NCMC card project. To make it easier for passengers to get the concession benefit, the corporation has made some key changes and has appealed to all beneficiaries to take note of them.

For Amrit senior citizen beneficiaries whose fingerprints are not matching in biometric verification, a new facility will begin from September 21, 2026. Such people will now be able to register for the NCMC card through an OTP sent to the mobile number linked to their Aadhaar card. This will bring major relief to beneficiaries facing problems with biometric verification.

Another facility will begin from September 21: those whose NCMC card has been lost or stolen will be able to get the old card blocked and register afresh by paying a fee of Rs 199.

Beneficiaries who have registered for the NCMC card by September 19 will be given the card from September 25, 2026.

Amrit senior citizen, senior citizen and women concession passengers who register for the NCMC card from September 16 are being given an acknowledgement with a QR code. After this acknowledgement is scanned on the ST's ETIM machine, the concerned concession holder will get the concession ticket. This registration acknowledgement will remain valid for 30 days. Beneficiaries who have registered must also activate their NCMC card and top it up within 30 days, or their concession travel may be interrupted midway. Beneficiaries should therefore complete this process in time.

All eligible concession beneficiaries should register for the NCMC card immediately to avail the concession on ST travel. The ST corporation is doing this to make the entire process of concession travel simpler, more transparent and digital through the NCMC card.
