Ola S1 Pro vs Ather 450X: which electric scooter suits daily use, range and price compared

Demand for electric scooters is rising fast in the Indian market. More people are switching to EVs for daily use, and demand for premium electric scooters is also growing. In this segment, the Ather 450X and the Ola S1 Pro are considered two big names. Both scooters have a sporty look and come with several smart features. But they differ considerably in battery, range, riding modes, storage and price. If you are planning to buy a new electric scooter, this information could be useful.
Starting with range. The Ola S1 Pro comes in three battery pack options: 3kWh, 4kWh and 5.2kWh. The 3kWh model has a claimed IDC range of 176 km. The 4kWh model can go up to 242 km. The 5.2kWh S1 Pro+ model claims an IDC range of up to 320 km. The Ather 450X, on the other hand, offers 2.9kWh and 3.7kWh battery options, with claimed IDC ranges of about 126 km and 161 km respectively. This makes it clear that the Ola S1 Pro has the edge if higher range is the priority.
The Ola S1 Pro is built for different riding styles, offering Eco, Normal, Sport and Hyper riding modes. The scooter also has a 7-inch digital touchscreen. There is 34 litres of storage space under the seat for everyday items. It comes with Bluetooth connectivity along with navigation assist, call alerts and reverse assist. It also has keyless ignition, anti-theft alerts and OTA software updates. The current Gen 3 S1 Pro series also includes technology such as ABS, multi-mode traction control and brake-by-wire.
Now to the Ather 450X. It has a 7-inch TFT touchscreen dashboard with Bluetooth and Google Maps navigation support. Riding modes include SmartEco, Eco, Ride, Sport and Warp. Connected features include OTA updates, anti-theft, tow-tracking and live ride status. The 450X also has features like reverse assist, autohold and Magic Twist. In terms of features, Ather is not far behind either.
On price, the Ather 450X starts at around Rs 1.49 lakh, available with the 126 km and 161 km range options. The Ola S1 Pro's 3kWh battery model starts at around Rs 1.28 lakh. The 4kWh model starts at around Rs 1.44 lakh, and the 5.2kWh S1 Pro+ starts at around Rs 1.58 lakh. This makes the Ola S1 Pro look more affordable at the entry level, while the Ather 450X's strength lies in its riding experience and feature package.
