NLSIU Bengaluru offers research fellowship paying Rs 50,000 a month

The National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, known as NLSIU, has announced a fellowship for candidates working in the field of research. Applications for the NLSIU Research Fellowship 2026 have opened. The programme, which includes the Graduate Research Fellowship, has a total of 20 seats.

Under the Graduate Research Fellowship, candidates will get Rs 50,000 a month. The fellowship programme is set to begin in January 2027, and the last date to apply is October 30, 2026, by 5 pm Indian Standard Time.

According to a notice on NLSIU's official website, nls.ac.in, the university has invited applications in three categories. The first category has 10 Graduate Research Fellowship posts, which will pay Rs 50,000 a month. However, the final remuneration will be decided based on the candidate's educational background, related experience and the fellowship.

According to NLSIU, the fellowship programme is meant for scholars researching in fields such as law, social sciences and public policy. The university wants to support research that develops and contributes to new theoretical approaches and finds practical ways for institutional and systemic reform. The programme includes both interdisciplinary and disciplinary research.

Selected candidates will have to work on their research while staying on the NLSIU campus for the entire fellowship period. The university has made clear that fellows must be present on campus throughout the fellowship. Candidates are advised to check the full details of their fellowship before applying.

The recruitment is for the session beginning January 2027. Interested candidates will have to apply through the Google Form provided for their respective fellowship. The last date to apply is October 30, 2026, by 5 pm Indian Standard Time. NLSIU has said that if a large number of applications are received, only shortlisted and selected candidates will be contacted for interviews.
