Nagpur: Father-in-law kills daughter-in-law with axe over black magic suspicion, jumps into well

A shocking incident has come to light in Pahune Layout, situated on the banks of the Pivali river in the area of Yashodhara Nagar police station in Nagpur. A father-in-law attacked his own daughter-in-law with an axe and killed her. After the incident, the accused father-in-law also tried to end his life by jumping into a nearby well.

According to police, the accused has been identified as 70-year-old Nathulal Pali, while the deceased woman has been identified as Lakshmi Ravishankar Pali, aged 40. Nathulal's son, Ravishankar Pali, died in 2019. Nathulal was deeply shocked by his son's death and began holding his daughter-in-law Lakshmi responsible for it. He suspected that she practiced black magic and occult rituals. This suspicion had led to several quarrels in the house.

Because of this suspicion, Nathulal had made up his mind to kill his daughter-in-law. On Saturday, when no one else was at home, Nathulal got the opportunity. At the time, Lakshmi was washing clothes. Nathulal struck her with an axe with such force that she died on the spot.

After killing his daughter-in-law, Nathulal became fearful of arrest and punishment. Out of this fear, he tried to kill himself by jumping into a well behind the house. Seeing Nathulal jump into the well, people nearby raised an alarm and informed the police. As news spread, a crowd gathered at the scene.

Police reached the spot and pulled Nathulal out of the well, sending him to a medical hospital for treatment. Police also brought a forensic team with them. The team took custody of Lakshmi's body and sent it to the hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police have collected the necessary evidence from the scene. Further legal action will follow once the post-mortem report is received. The incident has caused a sensation in the area.
